From time to time you may need advice on health issues, which may include registering with GP's, pregnancy and termination, AIDS, help with health costs and prescription charges, or disability support. We have wide resources of information at our fingertips.
Whilst we are unable to endorse any one doctor or medical practice to you we can provide you with a list. This can be found on the Useful Links page.
The Advice Centre will also house the SEXUAL HEALTH DROP IN CLINIC each FRIDAY between 12noon - 3pm where you can receive advice, support and contraception supplies from registered NHS nurses.
As part of the National Chlamydia Screening programme visit Check Your Bits or call 0191 265 7014
There are many times when you are affected by an issue personal to you. We are a confidential service and so anything you tell us will stay with us (unless you specifically ask us to inform or discuss with others). Personal problems can vary greatly but the Student Advice Centre is always willing to help even if we need to then suggest an alternative service as more appropriate.
The University Student Counselling Service is located on campus and in most cases they can offer a same day appointment where necessary.
The above only covers a very small sample of the types of health or personal issues you might. You are welcome to approach the Student Advice Centre with any other type of related issue. To contact us please see the main Student Advice Centre web page.
