Private Rented Project Online
The Private Rented Project offers FREE support and advice to Tenants, Landlords and Agencies involved in the Private Rented Sector of Newcastle upon Tyne. The project also produces a Tenants Handbook which has very useful information for people renting in the private sector.
They also operate a *HOUSING & SECURITY DROP IN SERVICE* at the Student Advice Centre on Mondays from 12noon - 3pm.

Tenancy Deposit Protection
From 6 April 2007, all deposits taken by landlords for Assured Shorthold Tenancies in England and Wales (this covers the vast majority of tenancies), must be protected by a tenancy deposit protection scheme. From this date, tenants should ask their landlord about the details of the scheme when signing a new tenancy agreement.
